About this coffee +
Las Mercedes sits in Antioquia, in the mountainous coffee country of northwest Colombia. Caturra and Colombia varieties grow between 1,800 and 2,100 metres, altitudes that slow maturation and build sweetness.
It is decaffeinated by the CO2 method, which uses pressurised carbon dioxide to draw the caffeine out while leaving the flavour compounds intact. No solvents, no heat treatment, none of the flattening that gives decaf a bad name.
Apple and vanilla with a maple sweetness through the finish. Roasted light to medium every Monday at our roastery in Glasgow. A decaf you would happily drink at any hour.
How we brew it +
Treat it like any caffeinated coffee. Fine grind for espresso, medium for filter and cafetiere.
A proper evening espresso, or an any-time filter with nothing to keep you up.
Grind guide +
Whole Bean: best if you have a grinder at home. Stays freshest longest.
Medium grind: V60, AeroPress, Chemex, Moka pot, cafetière, filter machines and drip brewers.
Fine grind: espresso machines including Sage, De’Longhi, La Marzocco and pressurised baskets.
