About this coffee +
Aquiares Estate sits in the Turrialba region of central Costa Rica, on the volcanic foothills that give the area its reputation for clean, structured coffees. The Esperanza variety grows between 1,200 and 1,400 metres, where cooler temperatures slow the cherries and build sweetness in the bean.
This lot is African washed. The fruit is removed and the beans dried on raised beds, a clean processing style that keeps the cup defined. Almond and brown sugar up front, a lift of orange on the finish.
We roast it light to medium every Monday at our roastery in Glasgow. An easygoing single origin that behaves on every brew method and holds its own in milk.
How we brew it +
Happy across the board. Filter at medium grind, 60g per litre, comes through clean and sweet.
Equally at home as a rounded flat white if you prefer a softer espresso.
Grind guide +
Whole Bean: best if you have a grinder at home. Stays freshest longest.
Medium grind: V60, AeroPress, Chemex, Moka pot, cafetière, filter machines and drip brewers.
Fine grind: espresso machines including Sage, De’Longhi, La Marzocco and pressurised baskets.
